Richard Kay (deceased) - Founding Member
Richard was a very popular and much loved man and founding member of the charity.  He sadly passed away in 2014 after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer.  Our work continues in his name.

Richard's surgeon,  Mohammad Abu Hilal said "It was after a conversation with me about why Pancreatic Cancer survival rates had not improved over the years, as other cancers had, that Richard encouraged me to start a fund raising charity dedicated to improving survival through research.  I have valued the support that he and his wife Susan have given to enable that to happen".

Kelvin Davis - Chairman and Patron
Southampton FC Club captain and goalkeeper Kelvin Davis agreed to be the charity's patron with effect from February 2015.  The Saints longest serving player, contracted to the club until the end of the 2015/16 season was moved to support us after his wife, Kelly, received treatment from Mr. Hilal, one of the charity's founders.
Kelvin said "the work of the Liver and Pancreatic Research and Development Charity is vital to so many people.  Their work is important to improve survival rates and detection of this under-resourced form of cancer.  I am delighted to be part of their work which is firmly rooted in the local community."
Kelvin's support cements the partnership already in place between the charity and the Saints Foundation.
Kelvin joined the club from Sunderland in 2006 and was instrumental in their back to back promotions which saw them return to the Premiership.

Mr John Burke (deceased) - past Chairman & Founding Member
John started at the age of 15 working for his father on road construction.  He took control of the family civil engineering business in the mid sixties.  He spent all of his working life as a building developer, involved in waste management, and owned a successful business park until retirement in 2010.

He lived in Fair Oak near Southampton since the age of 5.  He married in 1963 and he and his  wife have two children.  Their son, grandson and great granddaughter live in Florida and our daughter has stayed in Hampshire.

In 2011 he was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer and initially given only a short time to live.  Within a few weeks he was offered an aggressive "whipple" operation, by Mr Mohammed Abu Hilal in Southampton.  This was a life line and after a long and difficult recovery he was able visit his family in Florida, see his great granddaughter and enjoy a much valued extended life.

Sadly he passed away and his work is continued by his wife as an active charity supporter.
